Branford Porchfest FAQ
Branford’s Inaugural Porchfest takes place on Saturday, May 30, 2026, with a rain date of Sunday, May 31, from noon to 5 pm on porches throughout downtown Branford, CT.

What is Branford Porchfest?
Branford Porchfest is a free one-day musical event held in neighborhoods centered around the historic town green. Residents offer their front porches or yards to musicians of all skill levels and genres.
Rain Policy
The event will proceed in light rain or a low risk of scattered showers. If the forecast calls for constant or heavy rain, the event will move to the rain date of Sunday, May 31. If that date is also unfavorable, the event will be canceled. Follow our Facebook and Instagram pages for updates during the week of the event.
PERFORMERS
Who is eligible to perform?
Solo artists or full bands. At least one member should reside or work in Branford (this includes musicians who have performed gigs in town). Please note your Branford affiliation on the registration form.
No one in the group is lives/works in Branford. Can we still register?
Yes, and it is encouraged. Branford affiliates get first placement, then we go down the list to fill the slots.
Do we need to bring our own equipment?
Yes. Hosts provide electrical outlets and a performance space.
How long can we play?
Sets are 30 minutes minimum and 1 hour maximum (including setup and breakdown). Exceptions may be made for large groups (5+ members). Note your desired set time on the registration form, we will do our best to accommodate.
How loud can we play?
Performances should be amplified for the audience at that location but must not be disruptive to neighbors. See Town Code Chapter 189-Noise for details. Complaints will be addressed promptly.
How will people know about my performance?
Performer names and schedules will be listed on the website and on printed and online maps. Organizers will promote the event through the website, social media, sponsors, and local media. Performers are expected to promote their own sets as well.
Will we be paid to perform?
No. Performers may sell merchandise, set up a tip jar, and promote future shows.
We registered our band. What happens next?
Registration closes May 1. After that date we will create the schedule and connect performers with hosts. The final schedule will be published shortly afterward.
HOSTS
How can I apply to be a host?
Branford homeowners within a 5-minute walk of the town green are eligible. You must provide access to electrical outlets and a bathroom for performers. Sign up at shorelineevents-ct.com.
Do I need a porch to host?
No. Any outdoor space on your property may be used (deck, driveway, gazebo, tent, etc.), as long as sidewalks and streets remain clear.
Will I be paid to be a host?
No.
Do I need to be home?
Yes. You must be present to support performers and welcome attendees.
Do I have to host for the entire event?
No. You may choose your preferred time slot between 12–5 pm. If you are unavailable on the rain date, note it on the registration form.
Do I need to feed performers or provide parking?
No. Electricity and restroom access are required. Driveway parking for loading and unloading is appreciated but not required.
Can I decorate my space or offer refreshments?
Making your home festive and welcoming is encouraged for this community event. Offering food or refreshments to performers or attendees is optional.
I registered my porch. What happens next?
We will review all locations. After May 1 we will match hosts with performers and publish the final schedule.
If my porch is chosen, how will people find it?
Your address (but not your name) will be listed on the website and on printed and online maps. All participants are asked to promote the event to neighbors, friends, and family.
Volunteering
How do I become a Branford Ambassador?
Branford Porchfest is an opportunity to show the strength of our community to guests traveling here for the event. We are seeking volunteers to serve as ambassadors and help guide attendees to the various locations and businesses in town, so they can have the best experience possible. Helping hosts clean up after the event will be greatly appreciated, as well. Ambassadors will receive a commemorative Porchfest cap to wear for easy identification to outsiders. Local Businesses
How can I support Branford Porchfest?
We are seeking sponsors to help pay for the costs of organizing the event (website fees, printed materials, etc.), with donations as low as $25 earning a mention on our website. Higher tiers will be given ad space on the web and printed materials. For more info, contact us at shorelineevents-ct.com.
We hope also that businesses will help promote the event through their web or social media sites, through their customer email blasts, or simply print and post our flyers in their shops. And please, on the day of the event, allow attendees to use the restrooms.

How much does it cost to attend?
The event is free and open to the public.
Who is performing, when and where?
A digital map with times, locations, and performer names will be posted on the website once the schedule is finalized.
How can I find a restroom?
Designated public restrooms will be marked on the event map.
Where can I park?
Public parking locations will be shown on the event map. All performance locations are within a 5–10 minute walk from the town green.
What happens if it rains?
